Tutor or Teacher?
This is the second-to-last week I will be able to work with my student in a simple tutor/mentor capacity. Beginning two weeks from now, I will have to start implementing the lesson plans I have been working on for a little while now. I do so with the feeling that I will definitely be benefiting more from this exercise than Devin. I realize my writing and teaching lesson plans is the best way for me to get practical teaching experience; however, I do not believe my current relationship with Devin is conducive for what I am about to attempt. I think a student like Devin, and most students for that matter, need a friend and mentor in their life more than they do another authority figure and educator. I suppose the best teachers are those that are able to teach and still maintain a health mentoring relationship with their students. Such may be the idea behind my whole tutoring lab, but I just feel like if we had Devin’s best interest at heart, I’d be helping him... (more)

Try to live in the present
Life is beautiful just as the sun which really arises to give people warm. To a large degree,the measure of our peace of mind is determined by how much we are able to live on the present moment. Irrespective of what happened yesterday or last year, and what may or may not happen tomorrow, the present moment is where you are---always! Without question, many of us have mastered the neurotic art of spending much of our lives worrying about variety of things--all at once. We allow past problems and future concerns dominate your present moments, so much so that we end up anxious,frustrated,depressed,and hopeless. On the flip side, we also postpone our gratification, our stated priorities, and our happiness, often convincing that "someday" will be much better than today. Unfortunately, the same mental dynamics that tell us to look toward the future will only repeat themselves so that 'someday' never actually arrives.
